Ig-nobel
When Rabindranath Tagore won the Nobel for Literature, he had composed a beautiful song- ‘Ei Monihar Amaaye Nahi Saje’ – that roughly translates to and conveys ‘I am not worthy of this honour’. Such was the modesty of great men in those times.
Obama, take that.
Ei monihaar tomaye nahi saaje.
You are most certainly not worthy of this honour. Or may be this honour is not as honourable, after all.
We live in a strange age indeed.
Correction and edited to add post IK's comment:
tina, a small addendum::
RnT did not pen "ey monihaar amaay nahi sajey" on the news of the nobel prize... he wrote it on receiving the knighthood and then returned the honor in protest against the mass killings in jallianwala bagh....
but what ever, the concept of the song as u have visualized it in your blog vis-a-vis Obama and the nobel is apt....
thanks kaku. I remember bab telling me the story..got it wrong. :)

But nevertheless...Obama doesn't deserve the Nobel...no damn doubt about that one.
My faith has shattered completely! Nothing and noone is above influence, power play, pressure and corruption. And we shake our heads cynically at the Filmfare awards...
@sawapna: i saw no point in discussing something that has no dope for discussion. I've been a great supporter of Obama and follow him as much as his well wishers do. His historic win, his ideologies, his vision and intentions are admirable. But intentions aren't the same as achievements. Am sure he'll action his visions, but should't they have waited a little longer, it would have made him happier too. Though I completely loved his acceptance speech that said- i'll accept this prize as a 'call to action'.
But whatever happened to ethics? Why do Nobel prizes need to be politically correct?
If you still can't see why there is so much unrest over the peace prize, there are a ton of bloggers who have meted out their bewilderment. No ones angry here. We are just puzzled.
@M4: yes yes. a status message of a fb friend/colleague says- Obama didn't ask for 2 things- the nobel prize and opinions about him winning it. LOL!!!
But really, he won it? Already? :D Bloody joke.
BTW "Two Names" ta bujhlaam na toh
Hope he politely refuses and then accepts it when he is actually worthy of it. Otherwise he will go down in the history among Churchill who got it for literature :)) and many others.
@Madmax: :) left a link . Read when u hv the time.
@Solilo: Churchill's was worse than Obama, no? :D
On a diff note - can i bribe you into sharing templates :)
That says it all Appu!
I guess Obama got it because he was least voilent of all candidates :-P
I liked what starry-eyed nut suggested - give it to Osama - I guess he hasnt made a mass killing this year so he deserves it as as much as any other world leader :P
Say 'I don't deserve it' and depress a world that is hopeful of him stirring up the economy?
I didn't subscribe to the view (of him being awarded) either, but seems like this was an upfront payment, if you know what I mean :-)
www.simplypoet.com,a place where poets/writers interact,comment,critique and learn from each other..it provides a larger audience to your blog!!
@madmax: hehehe. i'll get oone for u, ok?
@lilmorethanmommy: but how sad is that?
@disc m: liked the template, eh? Zannk yous :).
@writerzblock: hey there, thanks for the series of lovely comments :). And welcome here! hmmm...true, like i mentioned in one fo my comments earlier- Obama didn't ask for it :).
@Solilo: OHHHHHH! THANK YOU BABE! I didn't make the nomination public this time, begging for votes. Just wanted to see if people of Indiblogger actually read all the nominations and voted without being asked to/ or just coz they are friends :). Thanks muchchas!
