Action packed weekend (i'd never want one like this again)

'The family that holidays together stays together'. Well, after bugging
the living daylights outta Raj we finally managed to sneak out last weekend
for a wee little Holiday in the hills. We chose Orange County over home stay only to enjoy both the modern and the rustic side ofCoorg. Turned out to be a good choice considering the fact that Meeshu was with us.

Little did we know what was in store. Three little days and so much in store! It was almost our second honeymoon, just that meeshu was with us too...and her nanny :). But the nanny was handy-- one wink and she'd whisk Meeshu away from our sight. Two days passed like a dream. Meeshu had her many 'firsts' - the holiday itself to begin with, boat ride on Cauvery, elephant sighting, Kingfisher sighting (i am sure she saw it :))! And we had our share of fun too. Long walks, jaccuzi, swiming, massages and all that one is supossed to do in holidays :). It was too short for my liking, but something was better than nothing.

Monday began on a sad note. Dadu (my paternal granddad) passed away. It was long due. He had suffered too much, and it was time for him to go. It was a relief in a way. But old days with him did come rushing to me (he deserves a special post, so more on this one later).

We had a really heavy breakfast (Orange County really has a spread -- only so much food gets to you after sometime!) we all got into the Tavera (with a DVD player and TV screen) to take the ride back home. I had a long face. Meeshu's Nanny was more than glad (she hated the wilderness et al and was petrified with the insects and worms she had spotted in the balcony). Raj was neutral (he always is. Men are so devoid of emotions when it comes to such things). Meeshu was clutching on to me, sure that we'd leave her behind in that strange place with too many trees and birds. She wanted Television and the minute she saw the TV in the car, she had the gleam back in her eyes.

On our journey back we watched Partner (ugh!)and Meeshu loved it (read: i was relatively at peace with her preoccupation). I was a quiet thinking of Dadu and dad. In no time we hit Mysore road and that's when God decided we had had too much fun, and it was time to give these guys a jolt. and what a jolt?!screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech, bang, mummmyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!! Shit! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! (accident ho gaya rabba rabba !) Our car had hit the one ahead of us in the busiest road i had ever been on. Not just that. The driver had braked so hard, and so suddenly, that we all jerked forward and in order to saveMeeshu's head from hitting the front seat which had a bead like shit mesh, i was hurt. I didn't realise it till i had this piercing pain in my leg and i saw
blackish red liquid flowing. I started howling. I was sureMeeshu was hurt and so was the Nanny in front who was sitting without a seat belt. Turned out that only I was hurt.

There was too much confusion. Too much crowd had gathered. Too much pain. Meeshu
was screaming in fear, pointing her finger at me. A cop came rushing to
the accident site with a greedy lust in his eyes (time for some money at
last). He was being real tough and i was howling away. Raj's vpice had an urgency I had never heard before. He looked most helpless and was sure he was losing it all. We were both yelling at the crowd to clear. I waved at the cop with my blood stained
hands, howling. (Kya scene hai). They let us go. But where?? The car wouldn't move ahead. The nearest hospital was Mallya, 4 kms away. The pain was pretty apparent now. Meeshu slept, she was very stressed. The girl in front was shaken outta her wits (she surely was making her plans to go back to orissa).

40 minutes later, we reached Mallya hospital. Zoom, i was wheeled into casualty. too many people in the hospital were waiting to be attended. 10 mins passed. No docs. I lay there in pain. Silently sobbing. cursing. Raj was the most distressed one. With Meeshu in his arms, he lost no time in calling up the right people up in his
company and also called the only friends we knew who'd come to our rescue (Poo and G). Soon came an army of doctors to attend to this poor soul (what sort of country is this, i ask. And what about all those who waited there alongside me, i thought. Raj couldn't care less). All he could see was me. And all i could see was Meeshu's fear filled eyes). Poo and G arrived and took away Meeshu and the Nanny. we would take longer and I couldn't bear to see Meeshu hanging around.

Quickly, it all happened. Shots administered. X rays taken. BP checked. Cut sutured. Verdict given. No broken bones. Presciption writted. Advice given. Sedated heavily. Discharged.Wheeled out to the killer tavera. Like nothing had happened. I was too distraught and shocked. In all the exhaustion I lay asleep in my lover's arms. The
Lover made all the necessary calls. Bosses were informed, family told.

Now, as i type out this post, I re-lived those horrifying moments again.

Never again, I hope, will i have to write a post remotely similar to this one, ever.
